GREERTON MARIST UNDER 11
2012 RUGBY SEASON

Newsletter: 01

Welcome to Players, Parents, Caregivers and Loyal Supporters,

It all seems a bit early to be talking rugby, let alone training but with Super 15 starting and our boys playing on the same size field and with the same numbers this year, we believe the extra couple of weeks will be the edge for us at both the start and end of the season. This newsletter is to inform you of our training plans leading into the first game due early May, also to touch on the new game rules and make up.

U11 Rugby: What to expect…

This year the boys will play like All Blacks, 15 players on the field full positions and full field. Games are 25 minutes each way, rolling subs, no pushing in scrums but otherwise same rules as adult’s rugby. We believe the full field could take its toll on the player’s fitness, hence the early training. Positional play will be important and we plan to spend a lot of time with the players teaching them what there rolls require. As always the keys to a successful side are team work, passing and tackling. If you can make time to practice passing at home and encourage the boys to have a run when they are not training, this will be a great help to their training. Watching Super 15 games and positional play of the players in the same positions as your boy, they want to be watching their field positional play in both offence and defence. This is for all positions!

Western Bay JMC: This year the JMC will be graded by age only, there are no dispensations for players to drop down. This shouldn’t affect us to much, as long as the player was 10 years old or younger on 31st Dec 2011, he is fine to play in our side.

Please check out our team Blog and register, game photo’s coach’s notes and notices will be published on here. If you’re registered, you will automatically get an email. Go to our website: http://mg10s2001.wordpress.com/
We look forward to a great year of rugby, fun and laughter. Please feel free to call or approach us if you have any concerns or questions. See you all over the next couple off weeks
