Chargers vs Mount Gold – Game 5 2012

Game 5 was held at Greerton Marist fields, this was going to be a tough one, but the boys had great trainings during the week and they were ready for some action.

Mount kicked off and with a knock on in our 22 Mount managed to score early on with a try out wide. After the restart, and the boys using there manoeuvres from training.  Harry managed to bust through their wall of defence for our first try, this was unfortunately not converted so the score remained at 5 all.  The Mount replied with another try before Zaavan used one of his well practised side steps to scoot down the sideline and score under the post, this was successfully converted by Joel to put us in the lead by 2 points.  Kingston was next to score with a fantastic breakthrough on the far side of the field giving us a healthy advantage.  Joel’s conversion was successful and the score was 19-10. Un fortunately with time running over Mount managed to score again with a successful conversion before half time was called. 19-15

The second half started with a great run from Tatatu, and a good effort by Jayden but the Mount managed to score again and convert putting them in the lead 22-19 just before fulltime Zaavan managed to break away with a convincing run down the side line but unfortunately was taken into touch leaving the final score 22-19 to Mount Maunganui.   A great effort boys you played like champions every boy on the field I think played to their full potential you guys should be proud of yourselves, we will get them in the next round.

Great team win!

Big well done to all the boy’s after a fantastic team win against Tauranga Sport.  You all played like I know you can and looked like young All Blacks! How good is it to score so many great team tries!! Looking forward to training and working on your skills from here. I also want to thank Stu for all the great off field work he is doing, Kane and Josh with their excellent coaching skills and the parents who have helped so far with photos and match reports, BBQ etc.

It has been a great team effort all round, if you are able to help out Stu is needing volunteers for the BBQ at home games. We are fundraising for the end of year trip for all kids, so please contact Stu before he has to ask.

Game 3 vs Tauranga Sports Blue

After a stern talk and hard week of training with the coaching staff, Game three was held at Greeton Marist fields, you would be forgiven for thinking you were watching a Chiefs game or an All Black game, our boys gave it 110% this week and it paid off well done.

Kick off by the Greerton Chargers saw Kingston Sonny Bill LangiLangi win the ball and run away for our first of many tries, this was followed by a great successful conversion kick by Joel Cruden Dustin who’s kicking was in fine form. We were in the lead 7-0, a quick turn around ball saw our boys scoring again in quick succession with Zaavan Dagg Hepi scoring on the far corner which was converted again by Joel, A few minutes later Taratu Nonu Mankelow was over for our third try wich was unconverted. Our boys were fired up and supporting each other well, with another try each to Zaavan, Kingston, and two tries to Harry Brad Thorn Baldwin, another successful conversion from Joel. Just before half time saw Mikaere Dan Carter Paerama- Hunt dot one down for our 7th try.

A pep talk at half time saw the boys return to the field hungry for more. Kingston was first to score with a great run down the field to score under the post which was easily converted by Joel, next was Harry scoring another try.  Zaavan scored 2 more tries plus Another try to Kingston, and Harry finishing the game with a try minutes before fulltime with a final score of 73-0 our boys came away with a very deserving win.

I would like to make special mention of Montell who had a excellent game and stepped up to the mark with great enthusiasim, also to Adam who I saw always in the thick of it going forward. Congratulations to Kingston awarded player of the day, great effort guys keep up the good work and we look forward to taking it to Welcome Bay next week GO THE CHIEFS OOPS I MEAN THE CHARGERS.
